Spring Rally
27 Apr 2013
The British Commercial Vehicle Museum, Leyland
The experienced Lancashire organising team are moving the Spring Rally to a new area not rallied by the VSCC for 75 years! The maze of lanes in south west Lancashire will provide a suitable navigational challenge, whilst the gently undulating countryside and 'moss roads' are ideal for light cars. Route instructions will be such that crews of all abilities should enjoy their day out. In 1938 the Northern Section held an average speed rally based in Scarisbrick. The winner was 30 minutes astray at the end of the forty-odd mile route, a far cry from the accuracy of today’s top rally teams! The Spring Rally will be a loose commemoration of this rally from the early days of the Club's history, using some of the roads of the original event and passing the well known watering hole used as the start / finish.
Vintage Sports-Car Club Navigational Rallies are not open to the public and we therefore do not encourage spectators.
Virtually the whole rally will be run on Landranger 108 (Liverpool & surrounding area) Edition E1.
The start / finish and approx 5 miles of the route are on 102 (Preston & Blackpool) any edition would do but the small area of this map required will be supplied by the organisers with the Final Instructions.
