2020 Trials Underway
Tuesday 25 February 2020
The VSCC Exmoor Trial made a triumphant start to the 2020 trials calendar.
Clerk of the Course Stuart Roper-Marshall and his organising team battled with the elements on the run up to the event however they were able to produce an excellent event with twelve testing hills.
From the eighty-seven starters both Don Skelton and Peter Kite scored maximum scores to be joint overall winners, sharing The Uglow Cup in their 1930 Austin Seven and 1921 GN respectively. Paul Jeavons won the James Diffey Trophy in his 1924 Vauxhall 30/98, the best performance in the long wheelbase classes. Dr Jonathan Rose in a 1938 Allard topped the short wheelbase ‘standard’ cars; long wheelbase ‘standard’ class winner was Robert Beebee in his 1925 Vauxhall 30/98.
One competitor signed off on the back of their scorecard with “Brilliant day, thank you all” which summed the day up nicely. The Club expresses its thanks to all the local organising team, along with all the volunteer Marshals, who helped make the VSCC Exmoor Trial a success.
